The company was founded in 1988 and was based on a concept developed out of frustration at not being able to find chutneys with the taste and texture that was remembered from suppers with grandparents.

As the company grew it started to source its vegetable and fruit components ready prepared from Solway Veg, a quality processor of vegetables and fruit supplying the UK’s leading food  manufacturers.

Management at Solway Veg saw the potential of the concept, bought and relocated the company to a  purpose built on-site factory enabling it to share the physical facilities and depth of  managerial and technical support.
